Well, the staff are smiling...what about the Scott in the sugar woods?
Hey Scott! How's the sugar season going?
"It's bitter cold after another snowstorm. Conditions have not improved. Man this is a tough sugar season!"
Quita? How's it going? "Another Sunday lost to a snowstorm. Arg!"
Samara? "I'm getting better. I'm buried!"
On the bright side...we did have a great tapping and visiting day on Saturday. Over 300 visitors at the farm and restaurant, enjoying sugar on snow, tours, snowshoeing and
pancakes.
Scott was up in the woods til dusk.
How deep was the snow? Deep, judging by the height of the sap lines. They're just above the snowline, when usually they're 6-7 feet off the ground.
Grateful for? Cheerful and encouraging staff! Customers who are waiting patiently for product. Neighbours crossing their fingers for us maple producers.
Today Scott will head up the hill in this brilliant sunshine and tap away. Weather sounds like it will be warming up later in the week. Would be awesome - and amazing - to be tapped in by then.
