We're SO relieved to be tapped in.
Scott got the steam stack up and is working on...
Getting the sugar camp in good working order.
Samara and I ran around Truro til 8 tonight for the first time in 2 weeks, doing endless errands and enjoying a rare lunch together (Sushi).
But we're also thinking of our family of maple producers here in Nova Scotia as they deal with this ridiculous amount of snow.
We talked to one producer today that has spent a whole lot of time and labour digging out his lines.
And there are others who have already dug out their lines multiple times after tapping.
We have 2500 taps. It's a small commercial sugar woods. Small potatoes compared to many. But it's still a heckuva lot of work for Scott.
And now he'll likely be up the hill on Saturday digging out our main lines.
Cause if the sap runs, it won't get too far if the lines beneath snow and clogged with ice.
That's maple sugaring this year. A huge, late, icy, snowy challenge!
