Lots of sap and Earltown’s been hopping!

We did in fact get sap on Saturday and had a great boil with Bob Williams, the original owner of the farm and his partner, Glenda. It’s traditional to have them out for at least one boil during the season and it’s always special. They both fired, chatted with guests and staff and it was so special to have them back at the sugar camp.

Earltown had what I hear was their biggest pancake supper ever - perhaps over 800 guests. Earltown Store was hopping and McNutt’s Maple had a big day too selling products at the supper. We were happy to support the hall once again by donating the maple syrup for the tables. What a great day for Earltown!

We’re still making amazing syrup. It has turned into one of those years in the best possible way and we’re extremely grateful. 🙏🏼

This season is turning out to be somewhat record-breaking in other areas of “maple country” too. We’re hearing stories of sugar camps in Ontario who are in the midst of a 21 hour boil and still going strong.

That’s the nature of this food. We’re so utterly and completely dependent upon weather and gratefully accept whatever the trees decide to give us.
